Insurance coverage for infertility treatment varies depending on your insurance carrier. Many carriers cover diagnostic testing until the diagnosis of infertility is confirmed. The most common diagnostic testing procedures are: consultation, initial ultrasound, initial blood work, semen analysis and Hysterosalpingogram (HSG). Some will also provide some level of coverage for treatment. A few, under certain circumstances, will even cover the need for a donor. Our team of financial counselors will guide you through this sometimes-complicated process and help you make sense of your policy, enabling you to optimize your coverage and reimbursement options.
Determine Your Carrier’s Coverage
A good way to get a sense of the coverage your current policy provides is to look through your benefits information. If you have had the policy for some time, you may want to request an updated benefits package to ensure accuracy of information.
We suggest that the financial counselor you are working with here at Reproductive Partners Fertility Center – San Diego (RPSD) also review your policy. We can help answer any questions you may have, and recommend other financial options that can help supplement your insurance coverage.
Multiple Insurance Plans
Some employers offer multiple insurance carriers. If this is the case where you work, you may want to consider exhausting your infertility coverage with one carrier and then switching to another carrier’s plan. Prior to doing so, be sure to check if previous infertility treatments will affect your new coverage in any way.
We currently accept: Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, HealthNet PPO, TriCare Standard and United HealthCare PPO.
