We understand that you will have many questions as we navigate the path ahead together, particularly as we get started. We can provide answers to several of your questions here.

Your First Visit

Your first visit to Reproductive Partners Fertility Center – San Diego (RPSD) is a time when we get to know you and your partner. You will be with us approximately an hour and a half, an hour of which will be dedicated to a one-on-one consultation with one of our physicians. In that time we will do an extensive review of your medical history, discuss a personalized treatment plan and provide in-depth explanations and answers to your questions.

During your initial consultation we will also perform a physical exam, including an ultrasound, and do blood work. At this time, you may also be referred for a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG), which is an x-ray of your uterus. An HSG helps us determine if there are problems with your fallopian tubes or the structure of your uterine cavity. These procedures provide valuable information in determining the best course of treatment for you.

Your Partner

If possible, it is preferable that your partner accompanies you on your first visit. Statistics show that up to 50% of infertility problems among couples trying to conceive can be traced to male medical conditions. And in 30-40% of infertility cases, it is a contributing factor. Determining where the issue lies right from the beginning can help you achieve pregnancy that much sooner. Bringing your partner to your initial consultation also provides him the chance to ask the physician any questions he may have, and gives the physician an opportunity to get to know him.

Your Treatment Plan

All of our treatment plans are developed to address the unique needs of each patient. So, the time it takes to establish a plan and get started varies from patient to patient. Treatment can begin as soon as enough information is gathered to provide a recommendation. Your physician will be able to provide more specific information during your initial consultation.

Costs & Insurance Coverage

Many patients choose to meet with our financial consultant during their first visit. The consultant can provide information regarding costs and financial packages associated with treatment, and answer any questions you may have.

We are contracted with many Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) insurance plans. Even if we are not contracted with your insurance, you can undergo treatment at Reproductive Partners Fertility Center – San Diego (RPSD) and send the bills to your insurance company for direct reimbursement based on your infertility coverage.
