A semen analysis evaluates sperm count, motility, and morphology to assess fertility potential and guide treatment decisions. If you’ve been referred for an SA test, follow the steps below to schedule your appointment.

How to Schedule a Semen Analysis

Get a Referral

Your referring provider must submit a laboratory requisition before you can schedule your test.

Call to Book Your Test

Once your provider has submitted the requisition, call 858-552-9177 (Option 1) to schedule.

  • Appointments available Monday – Friday.

Before Your Appointment

Preparation Guidelines

To ensure accurate results, follow these instructions before providing your sample:

  • Abstain from ejaculation for 2–4 days before collection.
  • Do not use lubricants or condoms, as they may affect results.
  • Wash hands and genital area before collecting your sample.

Sample Collection Options

Preferred Method – In-Clinic Collection

Collect your sample at our facility for the most accurate results.

Home Collection (Upon Request)

  • If you prefer to collect at home, let us know at the time of scheduling.
  • Collection kits are available upon request.
  • The sample must be delivered to RPSD within 30 minutes of collection.

Test Results & Next Steps

  1. Results are typically available in ~2 business days after your test.
  2. Your results will be sent directly to your referring provider, who will discuss the next steps with you.

If your results are abnormal, it does not mean conception is impossible. RPSD offers advanced fertility treatments and male fertility consultations to explore your options.
