Dr. David Meldrum’s impact as a physician, professor, author and leader in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility has enabled thousands to achieve their dreams of having their families. He is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Dr. Meldrum graduated at the top of his class from McGill Medical School. His wife Claudia’s difficulty conceiving led to his interest in infertility, and resulted in the birth of the Meldrum quadruplets. Dr. Meldrum took a sabbatical from UCLA in 1982; during his sabbatical in Australia he learned the techniques of IVF.  His early work culminated in the first pregnancy in the United States resulting from ultrasound-guided egg retrieval, and he was instrumental in achieving the first successful IVF birth in China.

Upon returning from Australia he set up the UCLA IVF program. In 1986 he moved his program to Redondo Beach where it evolved into Reproductive Partners Medical Group: he now serves as scientific director and teaches and consults at Reproductive Partners Fertility Center – San Diego.

Dr. Meldrum is a clinical professor at UCSD and UCLA, a prolific author of over one hundred and fifty scholarly articles and book chapters and a former president of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society. He serves as an editorial editor for Fertility and Sterility.

As a national leader in efforts to establish more consistent quality in reproductive laboratories, he was the first Commissioner for Laboratory Accreditation for the College of American Pathologists/American Society for Reproductive Medicine Reproductive Laboratory Accreditation Program. Dr. Meldrum has directed the University of California Comprehensive Postgraduate Course on IVF-ET for 27 years.
